Route to Norsey Wood

BY ROAD

If travelling on the A127 (London-Southend), turn onto the A176 (Billericay turnoff). Proceed to Billericay High Street and take the right fork at the far end (Norsey Road). As you leave the built-up area, look out for Outwood Common Road on the right. The entrance to the Wood is about 350 metres up this road.

If you are approaching from the Chelmsford direction along the B1007, take the left exit at the roundabout (Potash Road) soon after entering the built-up area of Billericay. At the end of this road, turn left and then almost immediately right into Outwood Common Road. The entrance to the Wood is about 350 metres on the right.

BY BUS

Travel to Billericay Rail Station from the Chelmsford or Basildon Direction. The nearest entrance to the Wood is only about 900 metres from the Rail Station. For directions, please see below.

BY RAIL

Billericay is on the National Express Railway route from Liverpool Street to Southend Victoria. For local information, telephone 08459 50 50 00, or see the National Express web site.

BY FOOT from the Rail Station (about 900 metres to the nearest entrance)

Turn right as you leave the station and walk up to the main road. Go over the footbridge and then cross the road to the Crown Public House. Take the narrow road to the left of the pub and then turn left into Norsey Road. After crossing the railway again, you will pass, on your right, Highland Grove, Holley Gardens, Jackson's Lane and Norsey Close. Turn right into the next (unmade) road called Deerbank Road. The entrance to the Wood is on your left. The way ahead of you is a very ancient track, which will lead you to the Information Centre and the Warden's Office (about 1200 metres).

We hope you enjoy your visit to this peaceful and beautiful place.
You will find picnic areas near the car park.
Please help to keep the Wood tidy by using the litter and dog bins provided.
Thank you!
